What is a loose red pointer on a pressure gauge?
Many pressure gauges are fitted with a loose red pointer. The red pointer can be adjusted to the normal operating pressure of the system to which the pressure gauge is applied to. The red pointer can then be used as a reference point. The user can check that the operating system is at the correct pressure by comparing the black needle to the red pointer. Adjustments can then be made to the operating system if need be.
